Size: 100mm (3.9")
Identification: Mature males of the Ancistrus genus are easily recognized by the soft, bushy tentacle-like growths on their snout—a unique feature distinguishing them from other catfish species.
Sexing: Males develop prominent "bushy noses," while females may have much smaller, less noticeable growths on their heads.
Feeding: Ancistrus thrive on a primarily vegetarian diet. High-quality prepared foods such as algae wafers and spirulina-based sinking pellets are recommended. Fresh vegetables like zucchini (courgette), green beans, and cucumber make excellent supplements.
Compatibility: Peaceful and well-suited for most community aquariums. They coexist well with non-aggressive species but should not be housed with overly large or aggressive fish. Males may become territorial and fight if kept in tanks that are too small.
